mason771 Hi my name is Corey Mason.I am 25 years old.
I am in the Bricklayers union as a tuckpointer. I am interested in traveling somewhere to take part in restoring a castle. I enjoy restoration work. I've been doing it steady for four years. But I have been around it all my life. I am a third generation bricklayer. thanks for any help.
Levan What a great name you have for working in your trade!
Few castles are actually made of brick - but rather of stone. Is this something you can turn your hand to? Also, are you interested in other aspects of castle restoration such as timber-work, harling (external render) or roofing?
I could have done with some help a few years ago, alas, I no longer have such needs!
Perhaps if you were to get in touch with the "Scottish Castle Owners Association" they might be able to point you in the right direction. The other possible routes might be to contact the National Trust (England and Wales), or the National Trust for Scotland.
Finally, are you wanting to restore castles as a professional or as a volunteer?

Peter Unless you want to learn some Italian, then go and work in Italy with all that sunshine & wine.
There are many towers , castles, forts etc. Built in brick over there. The Romans started it, and the Italians have perhaps used brick in there fortifications more than any other country.
