PeterI'm interested how other members keep their pictures tidy, or, in my case halg tidy.
I've found albums costly & bulky, taking up far too much room.
Even very good ones I have bought for post-cards are splitting in some cases.
I now buy the small index file boxs; 5 x 3, 6 x 4, 7 x 5: Then good sturdy card (various colours), cutting them as dividers. I can then place a very large amount in one box, which is sub-divided. They then take up very little space, can be clearly marked, and even stacked if need be.
It may be that even the post cards will end up this way.
wurdsmiffI use the same box system as you Peter, though one suggestion to stop them fraying may be to buy a laminator, provided you don't intend to de-laminate later. Sometimes the card can stick to the cover and damage can occasionally occur when removing this, particularly on low quality papers. Alternatively, some quality albums have fresh sleeves available as refills. I've seen these in some photographic shops, admittedly not recently. Perhaps combining these sleeves (which were available in a variety of sizes) and a box system rather than buy the entire album would be one solution.

AJRI have all my postcards and photos in albums from Boots (6x4 inches), which hold 140 pictures, 4 to a view. Yes these are rather expensive (about £9 a time), but they are all identical (so far-19 albums), and easy to remove if necessary. They DO take up a lot of space (hence the need to move soon), but I find the end result is worth it. Each picture is individually numbered, so once added to a database, and the albums numbered, I find it easy to locate any picture I want at any given time.
I do have six categories - vintage, English, Welsh and Scottish, and modern / photos, again, English Welsh and Scottish.
Each person has their own preferred way of storage, but for me, this works best.
