ClaireHas anyone heard of Chateau Horth? It was apparently in Alsace.

All we have is part of a letter sent to my Grandfather saying 'we have seen the old family name above Chateau Horth' My grandfather died in 1966, so this castle was still in existence somewhere between 1900 and 1966.

Any information at all would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks, Claire Horth

MarkoSearched my little library but couldn't find anything about a Chateau Horth. The closest name to it was a Chateau Woerth for which there is this link: http://woerth-en-alsace.com/franc/mngraphchatilustr.htm
A quick search on the net also revealed little, only that the name Horth does exist in that area of France but also a little bit more north in the Ardennes in Belgium. Also found a Horther mentioned in Switzerland.
Good luck with your search.

ClaireMarko, Thank you very much for the information. It gives an angle to look at. In some places the name was spelled Worth, so there could be a connection. Thank you, once again, Kind regards, Claire
