Merlin. Merlin. The Chateau de Miolans (about 15 km due east of Chambery) also has a dungeon that can be visited. louis_46349 I have heard of a castle with a multiple layered dungeon 'available' for touring. Possibly France but that is all the info I have. Will be visiting Europe in three months and trying to select a castle or two to visit. Geoff If you go to the north of France, try Chateau Bouillon on the border between Belgium and France. It is a very impressive ruin standing on a cliff overlooking a river. It is open to the public and has extensive underground rooms that you can explore. It was the home of a famous crusader, Godfrey de Bouillon. Merlin For a 'dungeon' with very large but also very dark rooms underground, visit the largest ruin in southern Germany, the castle Hohentwiel near Singen (Baden-Würtemberg). It's placed on the top of an old volcano (no joke!), like other castles in the same area (Hohenkrähen, Hohenstoffeln, Hohenhewen). For some pictures, see at
http://www.singen.de/ti/sehenswertes/umgebung/hohentwiel.htm Merlin Just more and better pictures of castle Hohentwiel. Have a look down in the 'dungeon' at

(as I remember, it's much darker in reality).
Best site with a lot of information (in german) is
http://www.schloesser-magazin.de/ht/htth.htm .DEN The castle at Loches has dungeons on several levels. Loches is about 35 km south east of Tours. Well worth a visit.
