This appears to be the extent of information available online but a lot of links appear to be down at the moment. ------------------Antonio I am seeking information on a 13th century
castle, the remains of which are on a rocky
outcrop overlooking the town of Belmez, Spain. Belmez is northwest of Cordoba.
Thanks.Philip Davis There is a nice picture at http://www.e-ol.net/and/belmez/visita.htm with the following text Castillo medieval.
Desde las torres de este castillo del siglo XIII se disfruta de una magnifica vista. Aunque su origen es árabe se reformó después de la conquista y fue fortificado más tarde por los franceses. Conserva la muralla con torres cilíndricas y la torre del Homenaje.
The translation system I used produced this ugly translation;
Medieval castle. From the towers of this castle of century XIII it is enjoyed one magnifies Vista. Although its origin is Arab reformed after the conquest and was fortified later by the French. It conserves the wall with cylindrical towers and the tower of the Tribute.
And as I rode by Dalton-Hall Beneath the turrets high, A maiden on the castle-wall Was singing merrily: The Outlaw by Sir Walter Scott
http://www.castlesontheweb.com/members/philipdavis/index.html Antonio Thanks Philip Davis for the response to my information request re 13th Century castle in Belmez, Spain. Wow, in only a few hours you provided a heart-warming picture and a thumbnail history of the castle my mother told me about when I was a boy of 10, over 40 years ago. The castle was the subject of many tales told to my mother by her parents who left Belmez in 1920, never to return. My mother was born in Belmez, but was one year old when they made their voyage through Ellis Island. You made my day, Philip!
