lazarusHi

I am trying to find out some information about Klingenthal Castle (near Strasbourg). So far no-one seems to have heard of it. If anyone can tell me anything about this castle, I would be most grateful.

thanks

LevanNot sure about its history, but Klingenthal Castle is a now regular venue for intergovernmental conferences.

Klingenthal was famous for sword manufacture - there are a number of examples in Edinburgh Castle. In 1733 Louis XV established the 'Manufacture d'Armes Blanches d' Alsace' in Kingenthal (which means valley of blades).

duncanAs a side note. The blades made in that area were and still are highly prized. The metal is of a very good grade even in todays standards. Sorry if this does'nt help your search.

LevanI've contacted the tourist board in Klingenthal who replied with the following information:

"You wanted some Information online about the castle of Klingenthal. We can't give you any informations online, because the castle in Klingenthal since very many years never exists.

Best regards
Tourist-Information Klingenthal"

I'm afraid this is not likely to help you much!
