ElleI have to argue that Bodiam castle is a Tower House, essentially a domestic dwelling, rather than a Keep or "true" castle. Only just started course and haven't a clue what I am on about! Can anyone point me in the right direction, thx, Elle

GordonBodiam has been discussed several times in a variety of forums, most reflecting the admiration that many have for it, wishing to replicate it in their own building projects, or simply seeking information. As to whether it is a true castle or not? Well that comes down to the difficult question of definition. A dwelling...well all castle are principally a dwelling, but there are other functions too.
Try having a look at these previous mails, and run a search for Bodiam using the link on the main bulletin board. http://www.castlesontheweb.com/quest/Forum6/HTML/000021.html http://www.castlesontheweb.com/quest/Forum12/HTML/000054.html http://www.castlesontheweb.com/quest/Forum12/HTML/000216.html http://www.castlesontheweb.com/quest/Forum12/HTML/000134.html http://www.castlesontheweb.com/quest/Forum13/HTML/000021.html http://www.castlesontheweb.com/quest/Forum7/HTML/000290.html http://www.castlesontheweb.com/quest/Forum7/HTML/000193.html
