PeterHi,
Sorry, but I can't find a mention of the family Barrett, or the castle in any of my sources.
Is it a medieval or modern castle ?
smithseanianBarrett's Castle, aka Castle More, was apparently built in the 13th century in County Cork - close to the N20. There are some posts from 2001 about the castle if you use "Barrett Castle" in a search of this board. I'm looking for more info, so I'd be happy to hear from anyone who has some details to offer

Sean

PeterJust read the old post .. confusing .

Only thing I have up to now is Salter's reference.

"Two walls remain in a very fragmentary state of a 13thC hall-house built by the de Cogans. A later medieval wing 6.3m wide projects 6.8m beyond one end. The castle is also known as Barrett's castle after the family wwho held it from 1604-89." end quote.

Will keep looking.

A KnightThe only two sources for this castle I can find are

Archaeological Inventory of County Cork - Vol III - Mid Cork - pages 354-5 (which includes a photo).

The Castles of County Cork - James N Healey -pages 307 and 319-320 (this includes a drawing).

I can e-mail you copies if you wish - but they will be large files.
