Queuxgropius Does anybody know where I could find any good images,on the Web or elsewhere,of Lichtenstein castle in Franconia,Bavaria? It is situated north of Bamberg, near Pfarrweisach. Unfortunately, the name is quite common as a castle name in German-speaking lands. There is one in Switzerland and Web searches invariably come up with the well-known restored faux-Gothic Burg Lichtenstein or the palace at Vaduz.
I believe that the castle is known as Burgruine or Ruine Lichtenstein in Germany. I have found two tiny pictures of some half-timbered buildings from the castle, but they show only a small part of the castle and all the sites that mention the castle are in German, which I I don't read.

ipfloAt first glance, when I saw Lichtenstein, I thought: the white castle of the dukes of Urach in Würtemberg.

But you have got a more original Lichtenstein

Info on it history I found on

The only photo's I found were on:

Queuxgropius Thank you,Ipflo.
The first site you indicated was unknown to me.Unfortunately,it seems to be a rather obscure castle,at least as regards images. I guess I'll have to go there at some stage!
ipflowhere you also can find some images, but not realy different than of the websites is in the following book: Schlösser und Burgen in Unterfranken. It is a beautiful book (with its 2 sisters the best you can get about castles and palaces in Franconia) and it contains 2 pages about lichtenstein.
