Also we took the local ferry from Istanbul to the end of the ferry run on the Bosphorus. We hiked up to a magnoficant castle. It was close to the Black Sea but still on the Bosphorus. It was surrounded by a current Turkish military zone. No seemed to know anything about either of them.I have numerous photos of each. Any thoughts on how I can find out more on each of them? Paul. ipflo You can find some info at: As for the second castle, I tried to post photos but could not at that time. I will try again. I'm sure it also has quite a history.tautemarite In May of 2006 a goup of us chartered a Turkish Gulet (sailboat) out of Bodrum Turkey. One night we anchored under a fantastic ruin of a castle near Bozburum. (I am not at home and will be more specific in a few days). Paul Hi, A short search of the photo archive on this site reveals a number of castles in the region you have mentioned.
The castle at Bodrum could be the one you are looking for but Marmaris springs to mind too.
Good luck,tautemarite Thanks Paul,
Yes we visited the Bodrum castle but a much less known one was explored on a tiny, rocky island near Orhaniye. The second castle remains were above the town of Anadolu , the last stop of the Bosphorus ferry run from Istanbul to the Black Sea. It had been huge.
I am new to the site so will look at photos on the site.
Chucktautemarite I have looked at all the photos on this website re Turkish or Med. castles and none cover the 2 castles I am interested in. I have many photos of the 2 but have no idea of their names or history.
Chuckipflo maybe you can put some photo's on the archive, and we all can have a look if we can find out the names tautemarite OK, Do I post directly to the photo archives? tautemarite I tried to post photos but it would not let me.My first choice was to start a new album but that did not work. Queuxgropius Any more news on this? did you succeed in posting the pics? ipflo The Castle on the Bosphorus is Yoros castle:

I just saw your reply (2/19/08). You are correct! I was not aware of the "Yoros castle" name but it is the same place. Now to find out more. The Wikepedia article was a nice start.
