Neenee What did a person do day after day inside a castle. What did the rooms look like? How many people could live in a castle? How many room.
Merlin Living in a small castle, somewhere out on the countryside, wasn't so much different from living as a peasant. There was some more comfort, as f.e. bigger rooms with walls of stone (not in all castles), water in the cistern, more meat to eat or more wood to heat. And the place was better protected against wild animals and human intruders. But most castles hadn't much luxuries. For further details about daily life and living conditions, go through the other postings in this forum.
To your other questions: The number of people living in a castle depended on how big and how important it was. In peaceful times, even a big castle could be inhabited by no more then 20 to 50 people. In times of war, soldiers were assembled to guard as many walls and towers as possible and the number of inhabitants multiplicated. In small castles (like towerhouses or simple structures like a stone house with a pallisade around it) lived sometimes not more then a dozen people: a nobleman's family with two or three servants.
