1: I understand pews were not original, any idea as to when they came into being? 2: Around the 14th century, how did nobles, and their attendants go to church? Did they go to the same church as the local peasants, or was there a separate chapel for their lord and themselves? Any ideas or sources to check would be greatly appreciated. ------------------Steve-O-Gerst I'd like to know a bit about how people went to church in the middle ages. deborahknowles I would have thought that the peasants would go to the village church, also attended by their nobles (just like today really!) I know the nobles used to take their falcons into church with them! Hope this helps!
