Any ideas? To what kind of scale do you intend to work? Cut and Assemble a Medieval Castle by A. G. Smith ISBN: 0486246639 Levan I would also like to have a look at some Fantasy castles. Please let me know of a few web addresses. Regarding the scale: haven't decided yet, but the castle should probably about 1 meter square, maybe a bit smaller. I have been looking into doign the very same thing, and I have a few links to send you. The first one I literally JUST found, and it looks like just the thing: It is a site that sells molds that you can use to make plaster of paris blocks of various shapes and sizes, and make castles from them. I think that this is the way I am goign to go. For an alternate view, check this page: http://www.webfiles.net/casmain.htm This is the web site of a guy who makes some of the best model castles I have ver seen. In his Links area, you can buy a how-to book from him. It looks like he starts with 1/4 plywood, coats it with paper-mache for textures, and paints. I am not sure how he gets paper-mached to look just like brick, but he does a great job. You may also want to check out Exin Castles. They are supposedly "architecturally accurate" and it looks like you could make quite a castle with a large set. They go together like legos, though you come out with fewer of the little circles actually showing. Online resources are hard to find--I have seen pictures in eBay auctions, and I know they can be ordered through hobby shops. I can't find anywhere to order them online except in the occasional auction. I am still looking for any reasources that will be helpful in building a castle siege diorama in 1/72nd scale. Good luck! Sincerely, Cthulhu --Cthulhustooge The castle needs to include all towers, rooms, bridges, gates, etc. All I have so far come across are small castles - 1 courtyard, two towers, etc. Also needs to be historically accurate. Levan There are a number of links in the old messages in this discussion group to sites that sell castle kits. However, it's my impression that most kits are more orientated towards fantasy castles - it is likely you will need to construct your castle from scratch if you want it to be historically accurate. Again, there are lots of sites with good plans and elevations from which you could scale to suit your purposes. I guess my own inclination would be to model a castle like Beaumaris in wales:

There are a number of excellent cardboard models of some large castles such as Caernarfon and Conwy:stooge Thanks for the help. cthulhu Dear Stooge,
http://members.tripod.com/Hirst_arts/ cthulhu Someday I will also learn to spell the word "going." Argh! Sorry about that! cmm383 I can be of assistance as far as exin castles go if you have any questions, I've been building one for over a year. Feel free to email me with any questions at all.
