airplanedoes anyone know how long it took them to build an average sized castle and how long could a castle survive a starvation seige on average with say 600 people in the castle fully stocked

I am 15 and hoping to get this info for a project i am doing

also what is a concentric castle

Merlin1) To build a castle of 'average size' (whatever that may be) took several years. Only very simple earthworks with wooden structures could be built in only one summer. Problems were the seasons (in winter it was too cold), the workers available (very often the peasants had a fixed amount of days per year were the had to work for their lord) and the costs for men and material.

2) 600 Inhabitants - that would easily fill an 'average' medieval town. Only very few castles had that much people. How long they could survive if under siege again depends on many things: If no fresh water was available, the siege would end very soon. If they had water, a good stock, gardens and a lot of living animals inside the castle, they could survive for a year. And not many sieges could go on that long, because they were also very, very expensive...
