I'm finding myself getting sucked into a budding fascination with Irish and Scottish tower-houses. What are the aurhoritative sources of sketches, descriptions, and floorplans of these types of castles for someone entertaining the fantasy of trying to build one someday?

Don't know about authorative- but if you go to www.levan.com you'll find floorplans and sketches of an old tower house which was restored in the 1980's.This one had two towers butted together and joined by a turnpike staircase, the smaller one being built about 70 years after the first and both completed by the end of the 14thC.Hope this is of some help.
