I'm looking up my husband's family line which started in the region of Aragon. This is where the USA Lujan's were suppose to get started and they still own a castle in Huesca. I'm looking for a photo of the castle for our album. If anyone can help or give me some leads I would surly appreciate it.
Thank You!!!

Loarre .. Huesca:
This is the nearest castle to Huesca, and lies a few miles northwest of the town.
The castle stands in a fantastic position overlooking the plains. Though the information I have does not state who owns this castle today.
It is in great condition and contains a church within its walls.
Bare in mind, this may not be the one connected with your family.

Loarre is, indeed, a fine castle. I visited in 1990 and found it one of the most delightful castles I've ever visited with some very fine romanesque architecture. I do have a short guide but this does not say who the current owner is. It is not inhabited.

However, the province of Huesca is actually quite large and must contain dozens, if not hundreds, of castles and castle sites as well as fortified villages and towns.

I've tried to find some info on Luxan, and could find nothing much, although I'm afraid my spanish is not up to the search. I suggest that you email the Tourist department for Huesca Province and see if they can help you.

The Huesca area map has over 60 main castle sites listed @ www.huesca-turismo.com
The 'Asociacion Espanola de Amigos de los Castillo', does not have a castle listing for the Huesca provinca, though it is pending.
The 'Lujan' name is very strong, and first appears in the Albacete area from the mid 16th C. onwards. This area is much more south eastern than Huesca.

I would like to thank both Peter and Philip for their speedy help. Being new at all this and my Spanish is not up to many searches but I did find a free translator web site yesterday. So between that and you two fellows I'm on my way again. I thank you both very much and will let you know what happens.

Yes, would be very interested to know if you find anything. And if a castle is still involved. Research into my own family history has shot a few myths down. But it has also brought other interesting details to light.
