An 18th century castle, built on the site of an older castle, Lambton is now an educational establishment.
Taken from "Discovering Castles in England & Wales" by John Kinross.

The castle is in the county of Durham in north-east England, and I do have another source of information at home, and hopefully I will be able to respond with this tomorrow.

I have a couple of pictures of the castle which I can e-mail to you if you would like them.

Hi ipflo
Lambton Castle was built on the site of Harraton Hall, a Robert de Lambton of Lambton Castle died in 1350 and John Lambton of Lambton Castle died in 1794
The original castle was demolished in the 18th century to be replaced by Lambton Hall, which was enlarged and castellated in 1833. It was damaged in 1854 and altered in 1875.
