Hi
On a trip "down south" last week i phoned the castle, trying is get in to take some pictures but they wouldn't let me in because access is restricted to guests with reservations, luckily the church is bang next to the curtain wall and there is a footpath round the back so i got my pictures, also they were good enough to send me a picture of the front gatehouse to use on my site.
They also sent me some dinner dates which may interest some of you, they are pre-bookable and cost £85 p.p:-
On Sunday, 15th September 2002 there is a dinner party with entertainment entitled: Musical Time Travel. This features music across the centuries.
On Sunday, 13th October 2002 another dinner party is being held, featuring a talk by David Arscott on the History of Amberley Castle. This previews the new, definitive book which is being launched in November to commemorate the 900th anniversary in 2003.
I asked the question but got the answer:- There are no plans to 'open' the castle during the anniversary, apart from residents/diners at the Castle.
I have full details of above which i will email to you if you drop me a line at castleuk@hotmail.com or just email the castle at info@amberleycastle.co.uk
Its a chance to get some good pictures and send some to me, Chris

My father managed to get in a couple of years ago - shame he didn't take a camera with him though. I reprimanded him severely, and he said "maybe next time". At those prices, they would be expensive photos.

By parents live not too far from Amberley, so next time I'm down that way, we might go along again.

Thanks for the tips
Andrew
