My husband and I are going to Hungary this summer to research some of his family history. I know of a few castles that were at one time owned by the Erdody family. However, I don't know how to get there or what condition they are in. If anyone has any info or pictures about those castles I would greatly appreciate any advice they have. Thanks!

hi

On http://public.srce.hr/jelen/jaska.htm you can find a little info about a castle of the erdody family.

One of their main residences lies in what is now Austria, but before 1918 Hungary: castle Rotenturm in the Burgenland (= land of castles ) province. The castle which we see there today, is from the 1860's, but there was already a castle there in 1400s. You can find very good information about this castle on, but it is in german:

http://www.burgen-austria.com/Archiv.asp?Artikel=Rotenturm

You can make a translation of it, with the help of www.altavista.com.

These are the only two castles I could find of the Erdody's. I know there are other, like Smolenice in Slovakia (which later belonged to the Palffy's). But I couldn't good info about in relation to the Erdody's
