Please can anyone help me.

I'm searching for a castle that may have belonged to my family generations ago and the story goes that the eldest in the family inherited the castle and out of spite the other siblings burnt it down. It was said to be in the 'Marche' region in Italy. The family surname is Zuccarini. If anyone can shed some light it would be much appreciated thank you.

Hi,
Bit of a problem here.
As there many hundreds of castle sites in the Marche region of Italy.
It would take a specialist book of the region to even begin a search. And even then not all castles are linked with a family name.
I'll have a search around the name .. but don't hold your breath.More so if it is a common name throughout the region.
You could possible do it. But it might take months, years even to track it down.
Cheers Peter

Just a quick reply to perhaps get you started.
Going back a couple of hundred years ago the family name seems to have had two centres. One at 'Sestola', which is in Emilia Romagna. Just above Tuscany, and not too far from Marche.
The other is at 'Mozzagrogna', which is in Abruzzo. Though only just south of the border with Marche. Not far south of Pescara on the Adriatic coast.
Both have castles, and certainly not burnt down (could have been rebuilt?).
I did find this e-mail address of some one researching the family name;

Fam-Zuccarini@hotmail.com

Although in Italian, you can right-click your mouse, which in most cases will give you a translation option.
You are better if you do your work through an Italian web-site like Virgilo. This will give you hords of hits on your name.
Try the two town names and have a look.
Cheers Peter
