I have a library patron who would like some information on a man who built his catle alone, without modern equipment for his sweetheart. She never showed up and he apparently moved this castle stone by stone again by himself. One rock weighed 3 tons. Apparently he did it scientifically. This is a true story. Can anyone help? It does sound somewhat like Crumm castle but I need more infor to be sure Thanks MD

I know which castle you are talking about. I'm not sure if it was built and moved then rebuilt though. The name of it is Coral Castle, it is in Florida somewhere. It is not a true 'castle', it is mostly a collection of stones in more of an artistic layout than anything else. The person you're talking about was a foreigner from (I think) Latvia. His last name was Leedskalnin (forgive my spelling), I don't remember his first name though. He built the castle for a younger woman he fell in love with in Latvia, but she shunned him and married someone else instead. The 'castle' is apparently open for tours as well. It was on the TV show "That's Incredible", which is where I remember most of this from. Hopefully that's the castle you are talking about, it is made from coral rock, one of the hardest on earth, and there are pieces that way a few tons.
