Do you also know where I might find some more info on it? I have been searching and can't seem to find a thing.

I don't really know a lot about English castles (if it was in Scotland I might stand a chance - perhaps this is Philip's domain?).

Anyway, for what it's worth, here's a few details that might hilp you track down more information (or not, as the case might be).

In the Domesday Book, Dinton was recorded as
'Danitone' in the 14th Century hundred of 'Stone' (later Aylesbury).

Information about Dinton:

A map showing Dinton Castle's exact location:

In Buckinghamshire County Council Picture archive I found the following links (BTW Dinton Castle is described as a folly):

Last night I contacted Kevin Quick of the Bucks Genealogical Society (BGS)
whom have a website that includes photographs of Buckinghamshire churches and villages. He has very kindly responded by quickly adding a photograph of Dinton Castle:
http://met.open.ac.uk/group/kaq/village.htm

Kevin has also provided the following information:

"I don't know how much you know of the history of the building, but
briefly, it is the ruin of a folly built by Sir John Vanhatten in 1769,
to provide a setting to house his collection of fossils. In fact he
included large ammonites in the construction of the walls, and some of
these can be seen in the photo eg over the central window arch."

I could find no reference to it and suspected it wasn't medieval. I did look but I don't really like to post negative answers.

I'm impressed by Levan's research.

You definitely deserve the thumbs up for this one! No wonder I had such a hard time finding information on it. I am a bit disappointed that it isn't medieval but it is interesting none the less. I also think it photographs very well. Thanks again!!!!
