Go here http://www.rampantscotland.com/castles.htm for an extensive list of links to Scottish castle websites. If you scroll down you'll find a site called Scotland holiday net, which has a whole section on B&B's. If I were you, I'd travel at leisure giving yourself time to dwell on the more interesting sites, and leave your plans flexible. When you arrive at your overnight stop, go to the local Tourist Information Office, and for a small fee they'll find you a B&B for the night. The only drawback with this is that you are probably better arriving at your overnight stop in late afternoon, when the office is open. But you won't find a shortage of B&B's anywhere unless there's a big event on, and doing this gives you the evenings to explore locally and relax.------------------ Demeure par la verite - Mason family motto. Go ahead and make out a trip planner. When you arrive and have gotten to your first stop over be sure to through it as far away as you can. Or maybe keep it to look at when you get back home and it will help you to remember the places you went and enjoyed instead of following that schedule. ------------------ Megan and Ralph CASTLE DUNCAN And in all your comings and goings, May you ever have a kindly greeting from them you meet along the road. an Old Gailic Prayer

Here are a few 'castle' venues I would recommend - all are within easy reach of Central Scotland, I'll leave other CastleQuest members to deal with other parts of the country: Ballencrieff Castle +44 (0)1875 870784 Culcreuch Castle +44 (0)1360 860556 Balgonie Castle +44 (0)1592 750119 Fernie Castle +44 (0)1337 810381 Borthwick Castle +44 (0)1875 820514 Characterful hotels with excellent food: Crinan Hotel, Crinan +44 (0)1546 830261 Burts Hotel, Melrose +44 (0)1896 822285 East Haugh House, Pitlochry +44 (0)1796 473121 One Devonshire Gardens, Glasgow +44 (0)141 339 2001 Most of these establishments have web-sites. There are several other places I'd recommend, but can't remember their contact details, if I get chance, I'll look them up. Levan | |
