I assume you are referring to Levan's reply to your message in the Schools Projects Forum. My first response to your rather impolite way of questioning, would be to suggest you look in a dictionary. However, it may be that you don't have access to one, whereas I do. A contradiction is a statement that has the opposite meaning to what was originally stated, or a statement that is inconsistent. For example, if you state you want a new antique, that would be a contradiction, as an antique is an article which is old.Get my drift ? Castles are, by their very nature, old buildings, although some modern buildings are confusingly called castles, but are really follies or mock castles. Hope that answers your question. AJR - Thank you.ssej86 - the polite way of clarifying your question would be to add it as a reply as a new item in the discussion. Editing your original message is like pretending you said something different in the first place. To give you a helpful reply, I needed to know what you were really trying to find out. In asking what you meant by a "modern" castle I was trying to find out whether you meant building a folly, building a model (like many in the schools group) or building a modern equivilant of a castle (bearing in mind that most folks don't consider purely military installations to be castles at all - castles being lordly residences too).
