While looking for the reference for an article, I came across an interesting journal and a very interesting conference(2001). Here's a link to the journal, Castella Maris Baltici, on Baltic castles, which is written in German and English; http://www.istovatanen.com/skas/julkaisut.php?lang=se&session= And a page on a long held conference in Lithuania; http://www.heritage.lt/naujienos/2001/engl_pr.htm It would be helpful to anyone particularly interested in castles of the Baltic countries. I have those books (bought them in the national museum of Denmark in Copenhagen), and they are not only about castles of the balticum, but about all castles in the countries situated against the baltic sea (the maris baltici). So they also consider castles from Russia, Finland, Sweden, Denmark, Germany (especially Schleswig-Holstein and Mecklenburg-Vorpommern), and Poland. And because of its culturalhistorical relationship with these countries some castles of Norway are also discussed. It are very interesting books, but you have to like to 'scientific' castellogica. |
