Last night (8th August), saw the start on U.K. B.B.C. 2 of the programme of the same name.
Each week for about 6-weeks three buildings will be shown. As the name suggests, it is about restoration, the saving of a building(s) before they fall down.
The first programme saw Bank Hall, Bretherton (ready to fall down), Manchesters fantastic Victorian Baths.
And for this site Brackenhill Tower, nr. Carlisle. This tower is still, more or less, intact. But the roof is starting to break up.
One simply phones;
0901 077 77 77

after listing to the voice you simply press 1, 2, 0r 3 for your choice.
Brackenhill is 3:
Your call costs 30p. You can call as many times as you wish. Monies go to the restoration project.
The winner each week goes forward to the grand final.
This is great way to get involved with saving our past.
The programme itself is well put together, visiting in the process sites that have been saved by dedication of people. It would seem that almost nothing is impossible with the right spirit.
GET DIALING RIGHT NOW.
Phone lines open until midnight saturday in the U.K.

A good time to give an older discussion some fresh air.

Unfortunatly one of the contributors has deleted all of his posts from CQ, but you can still get the gist.

Phew!
Just had a quick look at it.
Will have to run it all off and digest it.
But it would seem to be a subject like many other in the medieval field.
People will have to agree to disagree.
