Thanx G., it will be a great help!

Now back to nonsense:
On school we learn fysics, which can be fun sometimes, but did any of you ever use anything you learned there?
I always try to find out what is the sense (or nonsense )of certain things you have to do.

There was a long discussion in the moderator's lounge about how this forum should be handled. It ended up in a rather childish row, some of our senior moderators insulting each other. Don't ask me why, but during the weekend, Philip, Gordon and Duncan resigned, telling us that they don't want to take part in all this any more.
We're currently discussing how to reorganise the remaining group. Sad, but the show must go on.

Some of us are still here, but there are times when, for peronal reasons, people decide it is time to move on or to take a rest.

As for Physics, I studied the subject at school (many years ago), but the job I first chose to do did not require such knowledge, so I remember very little. However, although still in the same field (insurance), I work for a shipping company, and it's useful to know the physical attributes of cargoes that the ships carry and what might happen. Only a small part of the physics (and chemistry) I originally learnt is useful to me, but you never know what you might end up doing. I certainly didn't expect to have the need, but it has come in handy.
However, you probably know more than I do. Physics also helped to provide a clearer view of mathematical problems. Being inter-related subjects, one provides insight into the other.
Some people have an aptitude for physics, while others may understand chemistry or biology more. It all depends what career you want to pursue.
Not wanting to sound like a teacher (my wife is one, and sometimes at home she acts as though she is still teaching), but it IS important to learn different subjects, even if only to prove that you CAN learn. (I believe nurses have to study history, for the sole reason to show they can remember things).
Hope I've made some sense - I'm not a teacher.

Aha, I think i see the point, I always think:
Just let me learn the stuff when I need it!
But, I suppose that can be a very irritating job when ya need to know a lot

It might be our teacher too, he's a real ******* .

It's good to know that you think - you'd be surprised at the number of people who don't seem to know how to.

What sort of subjects do you study at school - and what do you think you are good at ? My wife teaches French - and I'm definitely no good at that. She frustrates me by asking me things in French, knowing full well I don't have a clue what she's talking about.

Oh well, we can't all be perfect students in every subject - I failed physics by the way.

What appears as childish behavier by some people is often the outward appearence of a much more deeply rooted emotional way of thinking.
As i stated in my forum that time is limited for me right now i felt it better to take a small leave of absence.
Most things like Phsyics is not an easy subject to study in school and you often wonder if it will do you any good in real life. I passed and enjoyed it some what, but i had a good teacher. Now building this project i'm finding my self going back and relearning alot of that science. I really don't see how people can beleave that Math and Physics wern't known in the middle ages, i guess they never tried to build a true castle.

Well, glad to know that someone got the bright idea that I think, although I must agree that there are a lot of persons who are too lazie to do so, now I am very lazie too, but I do think.
Subjects I'm good at he? Hm, that's not hard, Economy, I never got less then a 9.5 or an A as you call it on a test, which just depends on our great and magnificant teacher, the tests he makes are wonderfully easy.
For the rest, we have got 15 subjects on school:
1Drawing
2Gym
3Math
4Music
5Physics
6Biologie
7Economy
8French
9German
10Dutch
11Latin
12English
13History (or actually doing nothing at all)
14Geographie
15Technics

I don't find French very hard, got an A last test!

And about the childish behavior, I don't think there is something like that. Grown ups use the hiding behavior, which means they hide most of what they feel and want to say, children don't, just as we older ones would like to do, we're just too afraid that people will think we're strange. That's my point of view.

Now I gotta quit, I have a nice girl to cheer up a bit

Well then, this looks like a really great place. Good to see a few interested in castles. I myself have not actually seen too many (none) real castles. Alas, I live in Canada and my opportunty is not so great here. But some day, some day.

Right then I'll do it.
First let's welcome thomas to the club. I understand you think it is not nice that there are no castles in canada, but on the other side, I haven't seen a really big forest in my life, which you have got plenty of.

Well, that's it for today, hope you get your tong back again soon

Ah, to work he, well, I've got to go to school, which is a lot worse
Hm, no, haven't visited any castle lately, they're all so far away!!!
About books, I've ridden a book, not about a real castle, but about a pirates fort, very interesting too, and I've been playing compu games, about the 500-1500 years of course...
For the rest, my historic mind has gone to around 1800, are history classes are in that periode now, and I had to learn for a test, about william the 1st and 2nd. Which is nice too. I promise my attention will be back to castles soon. At least the history classes about the middle ages last year where, er, not that great. Which simply means we didn't learn anything then.

Well, that's about it.

Some of us have been very busy latly and haven't been able to post much. It's a new spring and with the good weather comes alot of work. Like school it's got to be done and some times the dead line is shorter then we would wish it to be.
Braveheart is a good movie but the book by Nigal Tranter is i feel much better and gives an indepth understanding to the life and times that Willam Wallace took part in.

We were away, staying in York. Managed to fit in visits to Clifford's Tower (in the rain), Pickering Castle (also in the rain) and Thirsk Castle, or what's left of it (again, in the rain). Trips to various other places to appease the wife (all in the rain, snow, hail, bitterly cold winds and occasional patch of sunshine). Came back south to - more rain.
We enjoyed ourselves thank you, although my wife caught a cold (I'm fine, fortunately).
