Well I don't know the games they produce, I'm more of a fragging Quaker, but their portal is beautiful!
And life's great here in the big city, this cauldron of good and evil, where unnamable terrors hide behind every dark corner and were normal things don't happen very often.
He, Fox, ever read HP. Lovecraft books?

Well, first, the warhammer fantasy game has a 288 page rulebook you have to read, though it isn't all rules in there, not by long. You need to play the game sometimes to learn it, and you keep learning! (tactics etc.)
I had a very good guy who kinda taught me the game. When you know the rules (even when you dont know all, which is quite impossible) the game is very playable, takes a lot of time to play one game (depends on how large a battle you play, but an afternoon is certainly needed most of the time.)

The game is actually more a hobby, you buy models for your army (expensive...), paint them and sometimes put them together, you form an army for which you need another 80 page army book, and start a game, which is above all fun, an avarage game is hard to give, all the armies are pretty well balanced, and you losse about 50% of your games when you're evenly matched and experienced.

I'd say find out if there is a Games Workshop retail Store in your neighbourhood, lots of peeps are there willing to tell all about the game, show you a game and models etc.

You'll be amazed of how many players there are :-)

Sound's pretty cool,
I intend to look into the GW games more closely, as well as my local GW store.
how detailed is the avarge model?
Do they make good display models?

Wow, you're lucky, you have a local GW store...
Anyway, you've got plastic (not too expensive, most of the time the most used units) and metal models (very expensive, mostly your generals and special units)
And the metal guys are often more detailed, i sent you some pictures of some models, they were stuffed in a display so see for yourself

BTW, I found out Games workshop stores have "beginner days" this is what they say:

Beginners Sundays
We run special games every Sunday just for beginners. If you want to learn about the world of Warhammer, or lead a squad of Space Marines into battle, all you have to do is come along! If you already play Games Workshop games, why not ask a friend to come along on a Sunday to introduce them to your hobby.

So if you are really interested...
