Yep! Must have something to talk about. If we don't, could be pretty boring. Tell you what .. been a lot of ants around this area. Not seen many in fifteen years in the cottage. Now .... marching all over the place. Are we (men) being taken over by Ants ? Mind, up to now ours are only little piddly things. Don't fancy living somewhere where the ants eat your house down overnight !

Ants! Seen plenty of them this year, but not as many wasps as usual. Mind you that might have something to do with the fact that I removed two nests from my loft while they were still being built, whereas last year they were well established before I noticed them. On the other hand, it might be due to the dismal weather up here, the 'British heatwave'of the last few weeks only came as far north as Carlisle. Only two dry days in July, Scotland's summer lasted from 2pm to 4pm on the 16th! I was working and missed it. |

We seem to have lots of ants too - but no ladybirds. Three ants' nests close to the house, which I have had to eradicate. Typically, it was while I was at a Classical Concert in Rochester Castle Gardens that the ants flew this year. They were a terrible nuisance, as we were all getting covered with them. Must have killed over 100 that landed on me in about 15 minutes. |

good, for the rest i've seen the reichburg cochem, the erenburg, the winneburg, and burg thurant, and...i thought there was one more....anyway, i like the winneburg the most, it was a kinda large ruin, on top of a large hill (1,5 hours very steep walk to the top) with not much standing, but what was there was very good -to be continued- ------------------ -Mattun- The world can be as you want, when you are as the world wants you.

Of course he did something wrong. I'm still waiting for a postcard. Naw .. nice to have you back. Have visted Burg Thurant, which is quite impressive. I have a picture of it on the wall by the side of me. If I recall correctly Fox, aren't there some towers down in the village\town as well ? Same with Cochem. Impressive remains down in the town as well. Good town gate. Would like to get back in that area some day. |

The problem with Burg Eltz is, that the original medieval castle with its origin in the 11th/12th century has been 'renovated' for a large amount of money at the end of the 19th century. This is something of the worst that can happen to a castle, because in those times people tried to rebuild everything in a romantic, pseudo-medieval style. Although: Eltz is not as extreme as Neu Schwanstein, because most parts of the structure are still original.Good information for non-german-speakers: http://www.burg-eltz.de/e_content.html ------------------
