Erik,
Thankyou, thankyou, thankyou, for your brilliant answer. I do have one more from my sons assignment which is puzzling me...

What a nobleman at 25 years of age might wish to achieve in the years ahead?

I know that this is also a bit ambiguous but maybe someone out there can help.

To stay alive? Remember that under the feudal system a Knight or nobleman owed military service to his king or feudal superior. They were harsh times and warfare was often brutal, despite the existence of the 'Chvalric Code'
Other ambitions could be to gain more wealth through the acquisition of estates, either through deft dealing, gaining favour with his superior, or even by a well negotiated marriage dowry.
Leaving a son and heir was also important, maintaining the dynasty, and this was of greater importance with higher social standings.
Just a suggestion or two.

Thanks Gordon, I think that the information we have now will finish off this assignment.
Thanks again,
