gohikingAbout 30 years ago, my parents bought a white plastic castle set (blocks) in France and it was modeled after a French Chateau. It had 4 or 5 turrets with drawbridge and some 20 figurines to boot. I'm sure it cost around $600 francs then. I was hoping I could find something simular to purchase for my children since mine was given away some time ago. It is possible that the manufacturer was german. Would anyone here know about it or where I could find a similar set?

Not what you're looking for, but have you seen what can be done with Lego nowadays?

gohikingThe lego castles are nice, and we may end up having to settle for buying them if we can't find the other. I was just hoping for the realism of the set that I had previously described.

cthulhuYou may wish to look at Exin Castle Blocks. My local hobby store doesn't carry them, but was willing to order them. I am in the US, so I am not sure of availability in France. The Exin company is in Spain, so perhaps they are actually easier to get in France.

If you have trouble finding some, I see sets for auction on eBay as often as one or two per month. In fact, there is a set on auction right now, with three days to go, under auction number 409788369. Here is a link:

There is a nice picture provided by the auctioneer to let you see for yourself. As lego-style blocks go, these are beautiful. They are made to look like marbled stone, and they are fairly accurate in the architectural sense from what I have seen. For children's blocks, they make a very realistic-looking castle.

Good luck!

gohikingThanks alot for spotting it. Althrough it doesn't have the cylindrical towers with the witches hat roof, it is alot like the set I'm looking for.

We will see if I can get it. If I see any other castle sets, I will post them as well so everyone can have the opportunity.
