Our castle is a typical Scottish L-Plan towerhouse built sometime before 1410 (it's reputed to be the oldest inhabitable property in SW Scotland). Some features: it has four floors (ideal model for family home), three turn-pike staircases (two built into the thickness of the walls), battlement walk-way and turret, gun-loops, vaulted ceilings on the ground floor, medieaval painted ceilings, ice house. I could go on; we also have a stream, waterfall and stunning views (not quite so reproducable). A modern feature that might be of interest is our warm-water under-floor heating system. This provides draft-free warmth (absolutely essential in Scotland) without ugly modern radiators to spoil the authentic feel of the property. This steady heat is also ideal if one has antiques to protect.

Levan I have drawings and plans produced to enable the restoration of our *real* castle. Levan I'm not sure why it's not there, but I expected my signature to appear on my previous posting as follows:

Gourock, Scoland UKWill Madrigal I have been fascinated by castles since I was a small child building them with blocks in the 1960s, probably why I am at this late date going back to school to learn more about architectural design. I would love to see some of your floor plans and other details.
I have a friend who has underfloor heating, it is quite lovely.
