Saber12I am a quester who drafts for a hobby. I am designing my own keep and castle and I am looking for some blueprints to help me in my quest. Contained in this keep and castle set is everthing from the blacksmith's shop to the castle dungeons. Any blueprints are welcome. In fact the more the merrier. If anyone can help I would greatly appriciate it. I am also looking for some floor plans of the Vanderbilt Estates in North Carolina. If anyone can help with this it would also be greatly appriciated.
duncanI have only the set of plans for the keep and
baily I'm building, check with

he's often on this site, good luck.
HelenI don't have "blue prints", but we have several books with plans of castles in them. I've put some of the plans from some of the books onto our web site (with appropriate recognition for the sources... and links to Amazon.com for easy purchase )

Our web site page with plans and links to plans is: http://www.geocities.com/Area51/Hollow/7231/castles.html

duncanThere are many books with floor plans and blueprints listed within this site. Helen's site is well worth a visit. She and Philip might have the needed information. My scanner is down so I have no way to post what plans I have or the copys that seem to be collecting under the table. sorry, best of luck.
Philip DavisI presume Duncan meant me. I've just added the floor plans of Hedingham Castle in Essex to my Web site (details in my profile- click the little head with the question mark).

Actually these are a modification of Hedingham Castle Keep as I would build a copy to live in if I had the money but the modifications are very slight because I'd happily live in an unmodified castle with no bathroom, drafts, no flushing loo etc.

duncanYou presumed correctly, once again.
I thought you could help him on his search.
Philip DavisThanks Duncan. Floor plans seem to be one of those things missing from many sites so I may get round to posting a few more floor plans of English castles on my site. Check the site from time to time.
LevanHi. Sorry, I missed this one - I've been rather too snowed under with work to do much browsing lately.

I've posted a few plans, elevations and cut-aways of Castle Levan on my rather embrionic website as follows:
http://www.kirkburn.com/castlelevan/

I still need time to add dimensioning information to all of the plans, however, they are drawn to scale (more or less) and you should be able to work out dimensions from the elevations that are anotated.

There are also a few snapshots that may help you to work out some of the more obscure details.

As for blacksmith's shops and such like - I'm afraid that kind of thing is quite rare in Scotland, and certainly never part of Castle Levan.

We do, however, have a gaol. Marion Montgomery, a former Lady of Levan used it quite proliferously. She was sentanced to death by Mary of Guise (mother of Mary Queen of Scots) for torturing and murdering her tenants. The sentance was later commuted to house-arest (shows how tenants were 'valued' in those days).
