My name's Ed Northcott, and I'm a Canadian illustrator who's looking for information on Shropshire castles, specifically Shrewsbury castle. I'm looking at producing a graphic novel that is chiefly set in late 12th century Shrewsbury. Any information on castles of the area at the time, especially floorplans, would be a wonderful addition to my research. Generalized castle layouts are appreciated, but the "Holy Grail" of this little quest would be blueprints for the manor/keep at Shrewsbury itself -- if such a thing exists. While I am interested in historical accuracy to a degree, this is a work of fiction starring fictional characters and events, not a historical treatise. As such, minor anachronisms or errors are tolerable if not encouraged. Any plans from time periods slightly before or after the late 12th/early 13th centuries are welcome. Thank you very much for your time and consideration.Northcott Greetings.
EdAJR I have available the plans of Shrewsbury Castle, taken from the book The Castles & Moated Mansions of Shropshire by Mike Salter. Unfortunately the file is too big to post in the Castle Photo Archive, so I will have to e-mail them direct.
