------------------KarenT Where the castles rented for filming use. Are they lived in? Where exactly in France are they located.
DreamWarrior I know of one that I believe was used in the movie "Les Miserables", based on the well-known French theatre production. It's called Carcassonne, and is actually a huge walled city, surrounded by two villages. From what I understand, these villages probably originated as tent cities. People would live in the tent cities to provide food, drink, entertainment, and shelter for the people who didn't make it into the city before nightfall when the gates closed and the guards went off duty. Entrance to the city was heavily screened for murderers and thieves, so huge lines would build up with people trying to get in. Philip Davis According to this site http://www.newtekniques.com/everafter/Production/production.html the castle used in the film is Hautefort. This site give some info and a phone number for the Chateaux http://www.finest.tm.fr/uk/dordogne/chateau_hautefort/index.html
