A correction to my last posting. St Cathrines castle is another Henry VIII costal fort, as are most of the fortifications at St Micheal's Mount (The medieval castle is lost apparently)
samson911 I need info on the Cornish castles. My mother is from there and has heard that there are castles in her name. Need to find where they are.
Philip Davis It would help if we knew your mothers name. Cornwall is actually quite short on castles. The notable medieval castles are Restormel,Launceston, Trematon, St Micheal's Mount, St Cathrine's and Tintagel (Which is on the site of much earlier fortification.) There are a two Henry VIII costal forts at Pendennis and St Mawes. Let us know which castle you want info on and send what I have.
samson911 Phillip, her last name is Cornish.
Philip Davis Sorry about the misunderstanding. I can find no reference to a Cornish family associated with medieval castles in England or Wales (The extent of my interest.) This does not mean that the Cornish family may not a connection to later houses using the name castle.
