joker Hi there,
I've seen mentioned in the birthplaces for a
number of Plantegenet royals a castle called
GRISMOND CASTLE. But I can't find info on it
anywhere else. All I know is that it is
situated in Monmouthshire, England, and wish
to know more.
Any info or guidance would be appreciated
very much.

Philip Davis As far as I can see no Plantagenet royal was born at anywhere like Grismond (mainly they seem to be have born at Windsor and Wincester). Monmouthshire is in Wales, part of the UK, but not part of England. Henry the fifth was born at Monmouth Castle but he belongs to the House of Lancaster rather than being a Plantagenet. The small castle at Grosmont, in Monmouthshire, was held by the plantagenet kings Henry II, Richard I and John during which period it was an earthworks castle and one of hundreds held by the Crown I am unsure if any king every visited Grosmont let alone lived there with a pregnant queen. tenerave Henry Plantagenet, or Henry III, gave Grosmont castle to his son, Prince Edmund Plantagenet, Earl of Lancaster. The Plantagenets who were born in this castle come from that line. No king ever had a son there, it was a prince. And they were both Plantagenets and Lancaster.
