cubhater@aol.comI am looking for any information on "Nugent Castle" in Ireland. A website would be a bonus. Many thanks....
GordonNot one I've heard of. A quick search of my usual Irish sources has produced nothing, however it might be useful if you gave more data, ie what do you know about the site, what is the nature of your question....are you looking for a castle owned by the Nugent family (like Ballinlough), or are you certain that there is a castle actually called Nugent Castle? If you are researching a 'castle' which dates from after the 17th c, it is unlikely to have been fortified, and therefore will not be included in the lists of castles, since it's really a mansion or big house, simply given the name castle to add to it's status. Please elaborate, and if possible tell us more about the expected location of the site. Ireland is overflowing with castles and castle sites, unless your site is of particular interest to someone else, it may be difficult to find any data either in print or on the web. Any information which helps locate it will improve your chances of a positive response. If your question is of a geneological nature you should have posted to that forum, though I can supply appropriate Irish Roots links.
