Thanks Eglish - N098098 - Described as a poorly preserved tower house with bawn. An 18th century house adjoins the remains. Broughal Castle - N163150 - Apparently a tower house the remains of which were demolished in the 1930s. No illustrations ------------------Rikter I am trying to find information on castles
broughal and eglish once inhabited by the
molloys of county offaly.there seems to be
alot of differing information as to exactly
where the castles are,how many there were and if they still stand. The only thing I have been able to find is that broughal is owned now by the banon family. Any one know where i might find Pictures.or more detailed information.A Knight The best source I can find is the "Archaeological Inventory of County Offaly" - Government of Ireland 1997 - ISBN 07076-3819-4.
