Dave Trying to find info on other castles in England with this Baronial style. Can anyone help??? Gordon I don't know about English baronial, but there is Scots baronial, and all of the examples are mansions, not castles, although some incorporated older genuine castles or replaced them. Some carry the title 'castle', but they are not since they lack genuine defensive features.
They were built purely as homes with only decorative castle 'features', ie they were not functional. I hope someone else can provide details on the English version of baronial architecture, which I've not heard of. There is the possibility that the English style corresponds with the Scots in being non-defensive in nature, in which case any help we provide could be limited, since we study genuine castles.
You say other castles...which do you know of?
