ipfloDoes any one know where i can find pictures of darnaway castle (Banff & Buchan in Scotland of th earls of moray), i tried on google.com, but i only get history and no pics.

thanking in advance

GordonI have not seen or found any pics of Darnaway on the web. There is one pic in 'The Castles of Scotland' 3rd ed by Martin Coventry, Goblinshead 2001.(See Book Nook for ISBN and details).
The estate is still privately owned, and a wish for privacy may be one reason for this.
In MacGibbon and Ross, only one drawing of the interior of the hall illustrates the castle.
I'm afraid that this is one occasion when you may be better off in the library. The 'castle' is incidently, now only the smaller portion of a massive mansion dating from 1810, however the hall interior is part of the original structure, and has a particularly excellent oak beam roof, which MacG & Ross can do little justice to in a pencil sketch.

AJRAlthough there is not a picture on the website, check out
http://www.netcomuk.co.uk/~harley/prints.html
Copies of various pictures / prints are available, and Darnaway Castle is one of them.

Furthermore, if you are in the area at the right time, I understand it is possible to tour the castle. Opening times are July / August, and tours leave the visitor centre at 1pm and 3pm on Sundays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.

Best of luck.

AJRBINGO !!

Found one, but it's small I'm afraid.
