antonio.jonesHello after two years recovering from bypass surgery; six surgeries from complications re infection makes me happy to be writing about the castle I inquired about then. I reregistered because of a change in email address. The castle is in the village of Belmez, near Cordoba. My mother was born in Belmez in 1920 and came to US as an infant. We were there in 1975 but did not get much information at that time. Wish I had. I feel sure there is a book, an expert, some source that will be helpful in my search for the history of the remains of the castle. At the age of 51 I feel a need to pursue some threads that go into history and may give me a better sense of meaning of life for me--no one else, just me. This may have become stronger since I hearly became history last year--on a ventilator for five days. However, I wrote the first note before the heart surgery--maybe then it was mere curiosity. Thank you dear castle enthusiasts, and it is good to be back. Antonio Jones
MarkoHello Antonio,
Glad to have you back. About Castillo Belmez; I don't know about any books but here are some nice picturesites I found. http://members.es.tripod.de/mibelmez/castillo.html http://www.radiocordoba.es/cordoba/provincia.htm http://www.uco.es/informa/provincia/pueblos/belmez.html http://www.nodo50.org/panc/Guadiato.htm
Also if you search for 'castillo belmez' on Google you'll find more sites about this castle. All of the sites I've encountered are in Spanish but you can use an translation engine like Altavista if needed.
Good luck.

antonio.jonesMarko: I am overwhelmed. The pictures you sent on Castilo de Belmez are absolutely fantastic. It was like I went back in time to at least 1975, and maybe for a fleeting moment,1275 (Ha!) I will let you know as my research progresses as I follow the thread back in time. This is a great website and internet resource. Antonio
