ipflodoes any one know where i can find some info about friedrichswerth castle near Gotha in Thüringen, Germany. it seems to be a 'watercastle' (sorry i don't know the english name for 'wasserburg') from the middle ages. i am curious how the castle looks like.

already much thx for the answers

katharina One page contains the picture of the castle Friedrichswerth, which is situated 15 km west-north from Gotha, but it is called 'Barockschloss' (Baroque palace) and lookes like a palace. I don't see any water surrounding Friedrichswerth either.

The page is on: http://www.feuerwehr-friedrichswerth.de/frwrth.htm

ipflothx for the info

i also found some new things out about the castle, it was a 'wasserburg' but in the 17th century the dukes of sachsen-gotha-altenburg have demolished it and built a baroque castle.

Just added the following site about castles and the like in the region of Thüringen. But there's no mention about your castle although the site seems pretty complete. http://www.thueringen.de/schloesser/karte.htm
