jay_m_jay I am trying to obtain information about a Baron von Sitler, near Elsoff, Nordrhein-westfalen, Germany. I understand he was a silk manufactor in the late 1600's---at a time France had almost all the knowledge of that particular textile. He had a castle some where in the area that we would like to visit as it was supposedly most lovely.
duncan Can't help you on the castle or the man your looking for, but I can tell you that the info on the silk is not correct.

the only castles i can find around elsoff in nordrhein-westfalen are Bad Berleburg, Wittgenstein in Bad Laasphe and a manor house in Schwarzenau, which all belonged to the Sayn-Wittgenstein family, and Battenberg and Biedenkopf in the Hessen province.\
