what a blast from the past. ive just been looking a picture of featherstone castle and it puts goose bumps down my arms.
i spent 2weeks in featherstone castle with my primary school in 1984

what a wonderful experiance that was.

i'd love to take my son to featherstone now. but im unsure if they still let the castle out????? does any one know?

or failing that maybe someone knows of a camp site nearby we could stay in and then come and visit featherstone and hadrians wall and every where else we were taken too...
bemish and vindalando!

AJRI tried to visit Featherstone Castle a few years back (1998). It is (was) privately owned, and when I tried to go in and have a look, I was turned away. I was permitted to take some photos from a distance, but that was all. There are a number of campsites in the area, but unfortunately I do not have any details.

Let us know if you manage to get inside, and if so, I would love to see some of the photos.
Andrew (from Kent)

AJRI found this website, which shows the place is open to the public. Try calling to see if you can go and visit.
