dellastI took the overnight train from Paris to Rome that left Paris at 7 pm. At about 1 am I was looking out the window and this beautiful castle perched on a mountainside came into view. It was all lit up with floodlights and there was a second lit building nearby. I have searched the web fruitlessly for "my" castle... can anyone give me any clue as to what castle it may be?
RoryHi dellast,

Can you give us a few more clues? Did you travel direct or did you change trains? If so, where? Can you remember if you went via Chambery and Modane or if you went through Switzerland? And finally, was the castle to the left or the right of the train line? Questions, questions, questions...

dellastDid not change trains. I think we went through Switzerland. Castle was on the left as we traveled towards Rome. I believe we went through Switzerland since they collected passports and returned them in the morning. We may have gone through Chambrey. It was lit up with floodlights making me think it might be a hotel or tourist attraction. It looked a little like the Disney World castle.
dellastAlso wanted to say that Chateau de Pierrefonds looks a lot like my castle. Is this possible? Is it along my train route?
RoryWe can rule out Chateau de Pierrefonds anyway - It's too far to the north of Paris. Still looking...
