Tammy HayesI am looking for info and possibly a picture of Damory Castle in Blandford Dorsetshire, England. I have recently found that I descend from the Ryves who lived there, I know nothing of this place and am looking for history on it.

PeterNot a castle but!
Street names exist in Blandford with the Damory name.
It was originally d'Amorie, and it was Damory Court. That was later owned by the Ryves family. This court later became a farm, but today is known as the 'Damory Hotel'. Whose name is superimposed on the crest of the family which is, a blue hand on a red & white background.
Not many people can go and have a pint in the old family home!

PeterI managed to find the information via a web site about another local Inn!
This Inn is famous for a old oak tree that used to be nearby. I'll try and refind it for you. But if you put Blanford into the search you might come up with it.
Peter
