mkatuls1 Hello,
I've been searching the web and books now for weeks trying to find a specific castle that I saw in a movie. The movie was Cave Dwellers starring Miles O'Keeffe as Ator. This movie was filmed in Italy in 1984 as a response to the Conan the movies. The castle ( Zor's castle in the movie) is shown at the end of the movie being viewed from a hang glidder. The castle is in the mountains and their is a lake in the background. I know this question will be next to impossible to answer unless you've actually seen the movie but maybe I'll get lucky. If it helps, the movie was also releasd as a Mystery Science Theater 3000 episode and is available on DVD, MST3K collection Volume II. Thanks.

Paul Hello, I have not seen the movie myself but I believe the castle is none other than the famous Neuschwanstein castle in Germany.

mkatuls1 Thanks for the reply. It's funny that you mention Neuschwanstein Castle, as it does fit my description. From the movie, it does have a striking resemblance in style and scenery to Neuschwanstein, but as familiar as I am with Neuschwanstein, I just know that it's not the same castle (I could be wrong, but I'm 97% sure I'm not). This is why I was curious in posting this question in the first place. I always thought Nueschwanstein was very unique, and when I saw this movie on MST3K, I thought it was crazy that there was another castle out there so similar. By the budget and time period of the movie, I can almost guarantee it wasn't a special effect. I will see if I can get a screen shot from the movie and email you. Don't rent the movie if you were thinking about it, it's one of the worst ever made. Hah Hah. I appreciate your help.

ipflo Paul sent to me the pictures, and he was very close with castle Neuschwanstein. Opposite of castle Neuschwanstein there is castle Hohenschwangau, and it is this castle which is used in the movie. This castle was a 'restoration' done by the fatther of king Ludwig II, king Maximilian II of Bayern. I have been there once, when I was small and it is nice example of neohistoric castles. I think you can compare it in some way with Belvoir in England. The castle is still owned by the Bavarian royal family, the Wittelsbach house.

ipflo only one question left: were those pictures taken in a cinema? or are those black shadows from the movie?

mkatuls1 That's the one. Funny, I remember seeing a building in the background of some of the Neuschwanstein Caslte pictures but I never put 2 and 2 together. That makes sense though since the backround was just so similar, it is the same background!
From the movie, the castles seems a lot bigger than it really is. I was picturing it to rival Neuschwanstein in overall intensity but Neuschwanstein dwarfs it. Neuschwanstein was not at all pictured in this movie either. I wonder why they used Hohenschwangau Castle for the main castle. Maybe Neuschwanstein was too obvious.
The shadows in the background of the pictures are, as I mentioned in my prior post, from Mystery Science Theater 3000 (MST3K). If you have never heard of MST3K I suggest watching or renting some of the movies. It's a guy and his 2 robot sidekicks that are forced to watch Bad B movies. The movies are showed super-imposing their shadows on the original movie making it look as though you are watching them in a theater watching the movie. It makes the movies a whole lot more enjoyable because they just make comments and voice overs for the characters in each movie. Over the years they've done hundreds of old movies and are available on DVD. It's some of the funniest stuff I've ever seen. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MST3K
