thanks elisa Paul. ------------------thid Hi, I'm an italian student (last year of philosophy!!) and i'm writing a novel about magic and stuff.
I needed a castle for my warewolves, and I found out the Colt castle, in Romania, that is perfect. There are just some ruins and it looks very isolated!
But... on the internet there are not much informations about it... obiouvsly...
So... does anybody know something about it? The history, the(medieval)inhabitants, the magic?
Please help! I have to write the the 6 chapter!Paul At the edge of the Retezat Mountains, on a rock peak, the Colt fortress is found. The site was built by the Candea's family from Rau de Mori (The Mills River), at the beginning of the 14-th century. The fortress had a defense role, being the most powerful fortress of Transylvania.........http://www.panoramas.ro/places/colten.html
There is lots more info out there.
Looks a bit too spooky to me.Marko Here's a couple of links about this castle:

"But round about the castle there began to grow a hedge of thorns, which every year became higher...."
Visit my website at http://www.castles.nl/Maria Well well well...
You chose Jules Verne's Carpathian Castle .
About the local beliefs, magic and superstitions... yes there are stories of werewolves (varcolaci) in Romanian mytology, mostly based on the "inverted tailbone" medical condition, which made it seem that the person had a small tail. For Romanian magic, I suggest looking up Mircea Eliade - he is surely translated in italian. Also, if you could find a translated copy of Romanian Mithology by Romulus Vulcanescu, that would help you a lot - he has details about the zburator (a form of incubus), vampires (well, strigoi), the garlic defense and many more. In a very scientific way.
