imaginit My fiancee (41)is a fine artist of medaevil times. All from his head. He has one peice that we've had made into a clock of a wizard casting a spell and the castle walls are amazing. He's going to air brush them on a wall in our bedroom. I (40)want to decorate the whole room around this mystical castle bed chamber theme. However, less the Wizards garb. More like that of a King and Queen. I need info on furnishings, bedding, wall decor, trinkets and nic-nac's. Window coverings, rugs etc... Would like more of a 1400 to 1600 glimpse of these things. We are soon going to produce enough of his art and join up with a Reniassance group near us. Sounds like a blast. Can anyone tell me where I might find drawings, photos, and good books on all these particulars? Can anyone send me some information?

Radella Rich colors to mark the start of the renassance (dark red, emereld green, sapphire blue) in velvets and heavy fabrics. If you do that for the bed-spread, consider a butter-mellow yellow color for the walls and the woodwork on royalties beds would have been fine depending on the family and how rich they were. In earlier times it would have been simple wooden furnature that you can find in Pottery Parn easily. That same calalog has a lot of the colrs I mentioned above. A dresser/vanity would add a nice touch, especially if the mirror was gold rimmed and carved. Other small boxes would be a nice touch. Does this help?
imaginit Yes! That does help! I already have a sapphire spread. and currently the walls are pale blue. The wall behind the lg. ornate headboard will be air brushed to look like stone. I have several ornate and wooden boxes, some trimed in brass as well as several other brass items to hang and place around the room. An old feather and ink well. Parchment type paper and scrolls. Do you think that these will work as well? Thanks!
Radella That is a great idea! Now that you have given me the image, I can see that it will work well. Only I suggest if the room has a "cool" color scheme instead of brass (depends on the color of the walls, is it blue like the sky? Or more periwinkle?), maybe silver or pewter (more medieval and less expensive) would work. If not, it should add an interesting contrast to the room. Actaully, it could make a really pretty mixture. You have a good eye! Ink well and boxes are great home-makers. My room is full of all kinds of trinkets I've found in small antique shops. If you have any more wuestions, I'd be glad to help!
